ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Marcia Neblett was born in 1970 in New York City. She studied at Cornell University and the Arts Students League of New York before receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Purchase College. At Purchase, she studied woodcut under Master Printmaker Antonio Frasconi. Marcia then received a Master of Fine Arts degree at The State University of New York at Stony Brook in Painting and Printmaking under Howardina Pindell.

Marcia is a recipient of grants from the Fulbright Foundation, The MacDowell Foundation; the Jerome Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Alden B. Dow Creativity Center. Her prints and drawings have been exhibited on a national level at The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY; The Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY; The Plains Art Museum, Fargo, ND, and the Muscarelle Museum of Art, Williamsburg, VA.

Marcia Neblett is a Professor of Foundation Studies at The Savannah College of Art and Design. She serves on the advisory board of the Children’s Art League of New York, Inc. and is a regular juror for the National Scholastic Art Competition. Marcia divides her time between New York City and Savannah, Georgia.
