My work looks deep into the borders between truth and fiction, especially as it relates to the “science-fiction/science-fact” binary. We are living in the era that speculative fiction authors imagined would be “the future”. We have unprecedented access to information and communication, but profound uncertainty about how true or beneficial this information is. Real science depends on a belief that all facts are true, no matter the contradictions. This system of analyzing information can create humorous and conflicting ambiguities that exploit the unease of having too much. I construct “artifacts,” fictional-but-plausible, and allow people’s own doubts and contexts to influence their readings. I take cues from test patterns and signs and symbols- removing their contexts to confuse them into signifying nothing.

The "point" is pointlessness—like a bad joke, with a build-up that leads to a "punchline" that is ironic, surreal, or a non-sequitur. Scientific truth is in constant flux. I choose to take the facts of science and jumble them together to make sense of the universe. My working process is inextricably tied to a sense of wonder and curiosity. But this is not to say that my educational search is purely a scavenger hunt; quite the contrary. The notion that there is a constant and infinite amount to see—far more than I could ever want to use—is its own truth.
