ARTIST'S STATEMENT

the flowing river
never stops,
and yet the water
never stays
the same.

- Chomei Kamono, thirteenth-century.

Seeing images in motion draws attention to one’s inability to distinguish each individual still frame as well as one’s ability to observe many of them as a continuous visual transformation.

A still image on a wall experiences time by being exposed to environment. After a period of time, the surface reveals its duration.

Moving images and still images are as one. They both are constantly changing.
