Life List
Nancy Storrow

April 5 - April 30, 2005

In this sensual new work Storrow has extracted the vocabulary of simple images that re-occur in her more complex abstract drawings. By concentrating on the smaller elements she emphasizes their tactile and energetic nature. Storrow uses pastels for their directness and pure brilliant pigment. Areas are defined by a nervous, colored line. Using the smooth surface of Bristol paper allows her to erase and smudge colors, to hide and reveal shapes and to suggest possible tangents. Some images are embedded, seemingly stuck in the paper, others spiral out of it.
