Jiyoon Koo

Jiyoon Koo is an artist based in Seoul, South Korea. Her paintings are a visual representation of pent-up boredom and anxiety stemming from the speed and scale of urban transformation and failures from the process of the rapidly changing circumstances in our society. Koo earned B.F.A at Korea National University of Arts and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and completed M.F.A at New York University in 2010. Koo had solo exhibitions in Gallery175 in Seoul and A.I.R gallery. Her work has been exhibited in Doosan Gallery New York, The Horticultural Society of New York and Common Center in Seoul. In 2010, Koo received A.I.R Gallery fellowship and Santo Foundation award and she is a selected young artist of The Bank of Korea in 2013 and the “New Hero” of Public Art magazine in 2014.
