CYNTHIA WINIKA

Artist Statement

Cynthia Winika has been a Gardiner NY resident for 45 years living with a view of the "gunks". It's been easy to be influenced by nature here. My gardens have ebbed and flowed over the years and walking in the woods has been my pleasure.

I've been making my art work since I was young. Studied art at SUNY New Paltz, in Taiwan privately, Women's Studio Workshop Rosendale, and self and peer learning. I have taught in art related places most of my life. A few of my favorite places were: The Morgan Library, The New York Botanical Gardens, workshops in Assisi, Italy, and Aylsham England at Blickling Hall (family home of Anne Boeylyn), San Francisco Center for the Book.

I have exhibited my work in Museums, University and Public galleries. My work is in many collections: Dorsky Museum New Paltz, MOMA, Cleveland Art Institute, Harvard, Yale, Skidmore,Vassar Fine Arts Libraries and many more university and private collections here and abroad. I've been a member of A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn for many years.
