Artist Statement

I grew up crossing the international border between Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California. This upbringing created an in-between state of mind and emotion thatI embody and inhabit. My work comes from this space and is an attempt to touch and soften personal and social boundaries. Originating from personal reflection, border culture and immigration, I create installations and performances with raw materials—such as dirt, metal, and water— and physical computing that speak to the malleability and humanistic aspect of mental and physical walls in both myself and society.
