Do you wish you saw the pandemic coming? Do you wish you knew which stocks to buy? Do you wish you knew when to finally break up with the person you’ve been quarantining with? Have you always wanted to be an oracle? It’s time to unlock the power within. You already have psychic powers; we’re here to help you unlock them.

Please join artists Lily Benson and Aliza Shvarts for the one-hour virtual workshop How to Be Psychic. Benson and Shvarts will lead you through a series of exercises on premonition, prediction, and visual analysis in order to enhance your innate intuitive abilities.

This workshop is presented on the occasion of 2019-2020 A.I.R. Fellow Aliza Shvarts’s solo exhibition Hotline, which centers on an artwork that takes the form of a telephone number: (866) 696-0940. Spiritualism and the telephone co-emerged in the nineteenth century. Both entail a spooky action at a distance and both rely on a sense of intimacy extended across time and space. One allows you to reach across the obstacle of distance; the other allows you to reach beyond the veil of death.
