Valentines for Congress

February 06, 2020

February 6, 2020, 5-8PM

In conjunction with DUMBO’s First Thursday art walk, A.I.R. Gallery is excited to host Valentines for Congress, a card-making workshop led by artist and former A.I.R. Fellow Lauren Simkin Berke. Valentines for Congress started in February 2017, as a way to facilitate civil engagement. As an illustrator who designs and produces merchandise, including postcards, it was a natural decision for Lauren to design cards for this purpose, meant for people to communicate their thoughts, frustrations, and appreciations to their representatives and other politicians. At Valentines for Congress events postcards, writing tools, addresses, and basic letter templates (including at least one love letter) are provided, free of cost. Participants are asked to leave their cards, which get stamped and mailed in time for them to arrive in D.C. on or around Valentines Day.

The event is free and open to the public.
