Structured Incidents
A.I.R. National Artists Exhibition

March 4 –29, 2008

Curated by Charlotta Kotik

STRUCTURED INCIDENTS brings together artists of different generations with divergent interests in an exhibition that is naturally eclectic. The exhibition features twenty women artists living all across the country — the A.I.R. Gallery’s National Artists. The artists explore a range of contemporary themes including cultural myths and fantasies, identity and the body, man-made artifacts and a reconsidered natural world. Despite the range of themes, the incidental is ever present in each artist’s imagery. These artists represent the wide scope of conceptual strategies, techniques, and materials presently contributing to the contemporary art scene.

The National Artists represented in this exhibition include Patricia Barefoot, Carol Boram-Hays, Judy Cooper, Lisa Cooperman, Leigh Craven, Barbara Grinell, Ann Ginsburgh Hofkin, Leslie Kneisel, Jeanette May, Nancy Morrow, Marcia Neblett, Katsura Okada, Mimi Oritsky, Claire Owen, Joan Ryan, Marie Sivak, Crit Streed, Meg Walker, Taryn Wells, and Cynthia E. Winika.
