Betwixt and Between
Megan Biddle

May 29 – June 23, 2007

In BETWIXT AND BETWEEN, Megan Biddle presents a hybrid of abstract wall drawings, installation, and sculpture, all inspired by naturally occurring phenomena and geological formation.

Materials such as blown glass, plaster, and film all serve to inform Biddle’s desire to instill her work with a sense of wonder. Biddle writes that using these materials, “allows my imagination to float between different worlds and to make sense of what those unknown places manifest.” The transformation of these materials from one substance to another is key to Biddle’s artistic process. She relaxes her control over the end results and lets the process itself be her guide. The artist welcomes the notion that discoveries are made when materials behave unexpectedly, making the final work distinctive from what was originally planned.
