Abstract Painting
Sharon Brant

October 29 – November 16, 1991

Sharon Brant’s recent paintings are “elliptical […] It dives off your tongue, does a somersault in the air, and then slips gracefully away. It defines an oval. It can mean being cryptic, ambiguous, obscure. Brant has limited herself to these elements: oval format, two-color palette, flat picture plane […] regardless of the material there is always an allusion to depth, a suggestion that there is something beyond the surface. Brant strives for a metaphorical depth, the real and imagined depth of the material representing a depth of meaning, demanding a depth of experience, evoking a depth of feeling.”
