ARTIST'S BIO
Since 2001, I have been using a single continuous line as a metaphor for the living experience, each project is a section of my life in a specific time and space. This particular conception of drawing is not the sketch of an idea or a representation of an object, but rather, in the very event of its generation, a record of lived time. Architectural Topographies is an ongoing project that examines the relationship of individuals and their environments through a series of site-specific meditations that integrate drawing, architecture, video, and performance. I use the physical act of drawing continuously in real time as an expression of concrete reality as opposed to the lifeless detachment of virtual images that are the currency of contemporary life. I translate my perception of the environment into works that have a physical impact on the viewer, and act as a way for structuring thought. The work reflects states of mind and being that evidence the impact of our surroundings on the psyche, creating an alternative topography, an intuitive rather than logical idea of our relationship to the world.
