ARTIST'S BIO
Hye-Kyung Kim is originally from Seoul, Korea. She received her MFA from Parsons School of Design, New York and MFA/BFA from Hong-Ik University in Seoul, Korea. She has had solo exhibitions at A.I.R. Gallery, New York, 2005; Batanggol Gallery Seoul, Korea, 1992; and Chung-Nam Gallery, Seoul, Korea, 1999, and has participated in group exhibitions both in New York City and Seoul, Korea.

Hye-Kyung was awarded Individual Artist Initiative in Queens Council on the Arts, 2008, Project Diversity in Queens Council on the Arts, 2007, a fellowship at A.I.R. Gallery, NY, 2003-4, and her work was featured in INDWELLING:Living in a female body 2007 (The Cooper Union’s Great Hall, NY, 2007), The 5th Biennial Exhibition (A.I.R. Gallery, NY, 2003); The 26th Small Works Exhibition (80 Washington Square East Galleries, NY), and New American Painting: the MFA Annual 2002. She also serves as a freelance illustrator. Her illustrations have been published in children’s books, medical books, and philosophy books at many publishing companies in Seoul, Korea. Recent illustrations include the children’s book, ”My Friend Kitty”, Dual Education, 2013, “Nature Work”, Dual Education, 2012, “Clouds”, Dual Education, 2012, “Hunter”, Dual Education, 2011, and “Loving Family”, Dual Education, 2011.
