New Paintings
Ann Schaumburger

GALLERY I

November 4 - December 2, 2012

With an Albers-‐like intensity for color, Schaumburger thoroughly investigates her palette of straight from the jar Flashe shades for combinations that build each cohesive composition. By noticing the shifts of illusionistic dimension produced when specific colors are juxtaposed together, she capitalizes on these changes, creating spatial relationships that vibrate or at times form opaque, color block facades. Her structures vacillate from generating the illusion of three-‐dimensional space with the possibility of navigating around each house to collapsing these houses into flat, straightforward, two-‐dimensional forms.
