Naho Taruishi

Born in Tokyo, Naho Taruishi lives and works in New York City. Through drawings and site-specific projections, her work translates the relations between still images, moving images, and architectural space. She is currently a selected artist for Open Sessions 2014-2016 at the Drawing Center in New York, NY. Her work has been exhibited at Artists Space, A.I.R Gallery, Show Room, and White Box in New York City; The Rochester Institute of Technology; and RK Projects in Providence, RI. Taruishi's work has also been presented at numerous international film and video festivals in the US, Canada, France, Spain, Sweden, Greece, Norway and Japan. Her limited edition artist book, Fragments of Light 6, a collaboration with Vincent FitzGerald & Co., is held in institutional collections including; the Library of Congress, New York Public Library, Rochester Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and Lyrik Kabinett. Additionally, Taruishi has been an Artist-in-Residence at the MacDowell Colony, the Watermill Center, and Atlantic Center for the Arts. Her work has been reviewed in Art in America and Contemporary Practices.
